Frequently Asked Questions

We offer a large list of options and prices so that we can find a charter for your exact needs. Please discuss your deposit with Capt. Frank when you schedule your charter. 252-256-0192
All necessary fishing licenses are provided by our blanket charter boat license.
Our total price covers the entire boat for up to six anglers. (Not per angler.) Please call Sharky's Charter Booking at 252-255-2248 to get our current fishing charter prices. If you don't see what you were looking for just ask and we'll make it happen.
The mate is the hardest working person on any charter and he is the key ingredient in your fishing success. It is traditional in North Carolina to tip your mate between 15% and 20% of the charter rate.
All gear, bait and ice will be onboard waiting for your arrival. All you need is your own food, drinks, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, camera, soft soled shoes, etc. Please keep the number of coolers down to one. We encourage you to bring your camera to preserve the memories. However, if you bring along electronics like phones or cameras please be aware that a boat can be a harsh environment for these items so keep them stored while not in use. We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal items. Check the weather and dress layered accordingly. Remember that it is easier to remove items if you wear too much than borrow from someone else if you get wet or cold.
If you are prone to seasicknes (motion sickness) there are many over-the-counter pills available. However most come with several unavoidable side effects. The side effects can make you irritable and drowsy. If you are concerned with taking or even giving these medicines to your family please consider getting an electronic Reliefband. I have been using these bands for years. They even work well on wild amusement park rides or reading a book while riding in a car.
The captain has the sole authority to cancel a trip. It is required that you show up for your scheduled charter unless you have heard differently from the captain. Often the weather offshore can be entirely different than the weather on land. If for safety reasons the captain feels it is necessary to cancel the trip, you will have the choice of return of your deposit or rescheduling. By not showing up for a reservation you are forfeiting your deposit.
Yes, all fish caught within the fishing regulations become the property of the charter customers. However to protect the species we release billfish and certain regulated species. Most fish that can be legally kept have size and/or number limits. The captain is responsible for watching that customers stay within regulations.
Wanchese Marina has a professional fish cleaning (filet and packaging) service for customers that do not wish to take the fish home to clean themselves.
We discuss the fishing options with our customers before each charter. Our goal is to match up what the customer would like to fish for with the species they are most likely to catch.
If you choose to drink beer please be responsible. Do not bring any sort of beverage in glass containers. For the safety of everyone onboard the captain reserves the right to terminate a charter and return to the dock if a passenger becomes disorderly.
